FEES & METHOD OF PAYMENT: Please call or e-mail me for current fees. If payment in full makes therapy prohibitive, I am willing to discuss a fee reduction especially if sessions can be scheduled at non prime-time hours such as late morning or early afternoons.
Normally, fees or co-payments are collected at each visit. If you are planning to use your insurance to pay for therapy, you will still need to pay me directly for sessions. I will supply you with a 'superbill' at the end of each month which you can then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If you are coming in through a managed care plan, I will bill the insurance carrier directly for services and you will only be responsible for any co-payments and deductibles that exist. In all cases, you are responsible for missed appointments and late cancellations. Insurance companies do not pay for these.
INSURANCE ACCEPTED:
- Any PPO's that provide out-patient Mental Health coverage
- Preferred Provider: Aetna, Value Options
- I do not accept Medicare or MediCal
FREQUENCY OF SESSIONS: Psychotherapy sessions are normally 50 minutes, once a week. It is sometimes in the client's best interest to meet more frequently. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Also, there may be a need (such as in couple's counseling or family therapy) to meet for extended sessions. These typically might be 90 - 100 minutes The fee will be adjusted accordingly. These decisions are made collaboratively with clients.
Psychoanalysis utilizes a 50 minute hour but requires a higher frequency of sessions, (see “What is a Psychoanalyst?”)
CANCELLATION POLICY: I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Except in a true medical emergency or natural disaster, the client is responsible for the fee if session is canceled with less then 24 hour notice, or if client no-shows.
